  • Success is a Mind State

There are many ways to measure success when it comes to business. Revenues, profits, number of customers, the list is endless. But the actual feeling of being successful starts as a mind state, you must first think positively before you can see positive results. Everyone wants to be able to run a business that provides long term financial stability. Yet, we often hear and dream of our business being the one that makes you an instant millionaire. While it is great if that does happen you should not have a negative feeling if it doesn’t or even if it fails. Every entrepreneur that can tell a story of how they achieved great success should also be able to tell you a story of how they had to conquer failure, or regroup from a plan that didn’t go how they planned.

Being able to pick yourself up from failure is what makes success so sweet. But how do you starting thinking for success.

    1. Well it starts with being realistic with your own capabilities. No business can be successful with only one person. Whether you outsource your needs or hire full and part time employees you still need to be able to fill in the gaps.
    2. Think positively- when times are bad no that instead of sitting around a griping about it, use that energy to take the necessary steps to improve your situation.
    3. Understand that there are some aspects of business you can’t control. The entire intent of business planning is to identify as many of these aspects as possible before you invest time, money, and effort. Planning can help you identify businesses that have no chance of working from the start.
    4. Short term success leads to long term success. There is no way you can have long term success without first accomplishing the smaller goals you set for your business, period! You couldn’t build your dream house without having blueprints. Whether you set your goals daily, weekly, or monthly you should still have an idea of what direction you want the business to be heading in.
    5. Always be willing to learn by reading- every successful entrepreneur that I’ve met says they read—A LOT! My personal motto is: “The more you know, the more you grow,” and it extends to issues within your industry and in other industries. I can’t tell you how being able to speak knowledgably about a topic has helped me in networking.

These are a few of the techniques that I have used to turn bad situations into positive opportunity. You can’t be successful if you are always thinking that you will fail.
